Malaysia Aged Care Facility

JHA has the opportunity to propose a concept design for an aged care facility located in Malaysia.

In order to utilise and respond to the long and narrow shape of the site, the proposed aged care facility is formed by a series of singular pods. Each pod is purpose defined and the spaces between each pod allow multiple gardens and courtyards to be evenly spaced and easily accessible across the whole facility.

The series of individual pods connecting to each other gives off the feeling of a neighbourhood rather than an institution.

All pods are being connected by a passageway that runs through the central axis of the facility, with gardens and courtyards providing visual relief along the passageway. Provision for future expansion are possible by replicating the pods in a linear configuration along the central passageway further up the narrow part of the site.
